Digimon Tamers is the third season of Digimon: Digital Monsters. In this season, the first two seasons were a TV show. There is a Digimon Card Game and even tournaments. This season shows a secret government agency named Hypnos. It monitors digital activity and prevents digimon from Bio-Emerging to earth. It is run by Mitsuo Yamaki. The show focuses around Takato mostly. He is a boy who dreams of having a digimon. He draws his own digimon, called Guilmon. Guilmon Bio-Emerges and Takato's card reader turns into a D-Power digivice. due to Guilmon's size, Takato has to leave him in the park. The other main tamers are Henry and Rika. Henry's partner is Terriermon and Rika's is Renamon. Terriermon is sort of babied by Henry while Rika just treats Renamon as a weapon and not an equal. There is a digimon named Calumon who only likes to play and is able to make digimon digivolve. Impmon is a rookie digimon that picks on the tamers' digimon. The beginning of the show is about digimon Bio-Emerging on earth. The tamers use Digi-Modify cards and digivolution to defeat them.

Later on in Tamers, ultimate level digimon called The Devas Bio-Emerge. They are based on the Chinese Zodiac animals. The digimon are able to defeat them but not as easily as other digimon. This is the area of time where the tamers' digimon digivolve to ultimate level. Jeri, a girl in Takato's class, gets a Leomon as a partner. Calumon is captured and brought to the Digital World. The tamers, and Takato's friends, Kazu and Kenta, go to the Digital World to save him. There are still Devas about. They are servants of Zhuqiaomon, one of the Digimon Sovereigns. The tamers find Ryo and his partner, Cyberdramon. Kazu gets his partner, Guardromon. The Soverigns are defeated except for Antylamon who becomes Suzie's, Henry's little sister, partner digimon. Impmon, with the help of Zhuqiaomon, was digivolve to mega level Beelzemon. Calumon was rescued. Beelzemon kills Leomon. Takato and Guilmon Biomerge together to make Gallantmon. Kenta gets his partner, MarineAngemon.

The tamers discover the D-Reaper, a non-digimon enemy, that is trying to delete all digimon. It follows them home. Rika and Renamon biomerge to Sakuyamon. Henry and Terriermon biomerge to MegaGargomon. Ryo and Cyberdramon biomerge to Justimon. Jeri was captured by the D-Reaper who is feeding off her sadness. It sent a Jeri clone out to take her place. After a long fight with the D-Reaper, Hypnos was able to find a solution with the help of the Monster Makers. Hypnos's Juggernaut program was put into Terriermon. MegaGargomon used it to revert the D-Reaper into its original harmless form. However, because of that, all the digimon returned to the digital world.
